In the world of Argentine street food, the Choripan man is king. Consistently the best bang for your buck, this on the fly sandwich is available throughout the country at almost any hour of the day (as long as you know which stand is open when). Although the toppings differ from region to region, and sometimes block to block, the main ingredients are the same; the chori – an Argentine chorizo sausage grilled over wood, and the pan – a soft white sandwich roll.
The Choripan cart pictured here was the first thing we set eyes on when we arrived by bus to the town of El Bolson. The sausage was smoky, hot and spicy. Topped with pickled veggies and chili spiked Chimichurri, this particular combo was insanely good to the very last bite. Hats off to our favorite Choripan man!
What a trip! Eating your way through amazing vistas.
