At Bay Laurel Culinary, our focus has always been on 3 things:
- Meticulously sourced ingredients
- Cooked from scratch
- Presented with care
So, pre-pandemic, this meant that we were physically present with our clients for the “presented with care” part!
How do you pivot a business model that is not just about elegant & delicious food, but also about how you make guests “feel” as you serve it to them?
Since April 1st, we have been learning how to do that with our BLC to-go services by:
- Continuing to source the best ingredients – seasonal, local, sustainable & organic whenever possible & especially where we can support & promote other small businesses
- Thinking about the logistics our customers are facing – what dishes are easy to transport, store in the fridge or freezer, divide up to make multiple meals, family-friendly, comforting etc.?
- Making the “plating” part straight-forward – directions for warming or finishing, clear labeling, compostable & recyclable packaging for easy clean-up
Offering gourmet food to-go has challenged us creatively & logistically. It has pushed us to innovate, be nimble & be willing to try new things. We are reminded that now more than ever we need to take care of others – the true spirit of hospitality.
